Art news in brief @H= Iranian films to be screened at Fribourg Film Festival

TEHRAN –- Iranian films and animations will be screened at the Fribourg International Film Festival, which will be held from March 1 to 8 in Switzerland.

Iranian feature films “The Red Card” directed by Mahnaz Afzali and “Bashu, the Little Stranger” by Bahram Beizaii and short films “Knot” by Javad Vatani and “The Slap” by Ehsan Amani will be screened at the gala.
The Iranian animations “Once a Crow” directed by Abdollah Alimorad, “The Crow Who Wanted” by Mohammadali Soleimanzadeh, and “The Sparrow and the Boll” by Morteza Abdi will also be screened at the festival.
------Iranian director to be on Hot Docs jury
TEHRAN –- Iranian director Masud Bakhshi has been invited to be a member of the jury for Hot Docs, the Canadian international documentary festival, which will be held in Toronto from April 17 to 27.
Bakhshi is the director of the documentary film “Tehran Has No More Pomegranates!”, which describes the history of Tehran from its foundation in 1241 BC to the teeming modern metropolis of endless urban sprawl and traffic jams.
------Ankara exhibit displays Turkish translations of Persian books
TEHRAN -- The office of Iran’s cultural attaché in Ankara held an exhibition displaying Turkish translations of Persian books from February 20 to 24.
The event featured over 200 books, including classic works by Iranian poets Attar, Sadi, Hafez, and Rumi and books by contemporary Persian writers and scholars like Mostafa Mastur, Jafar Shahidi, and Zabihollah Safa..
